Central team to visit flood-hit areas of Tamil Nadu on November 22 and 23

An inter-ministerial team from the centre will visit the flood-hit areas of Tamil Nadu on November 22 and 23 to assess the damage caused by floods. Tamil Nadu revenue and disater management minister KKSSR Ramachandran was quoted by Times of India (TOI) as saying that a team from the Centre will visit the state-starting from November 22.

He added, “One group will visit Chennai, Chengalpat and Kancheepuram and other one will visit Kanyakumari. The next day, one group will assess the damage in Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur and Thanjavur, while the second group in Vellore and Ranipet.” On Sunday noon, the seven-member team led by Union home ministry joint secretary and financial advisor to National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) Rajiv Sharma will visit the state.

Rainfall activity to reduce in South India

South Indian states have been battered by torrential flooding in the past two weeks due to the northeast monsoon. While the weather department has forecast more rainfall for Karnataka and Telangana this week, it has said that the rainfall activity in the other southern states may recede from Sunday.
