The S&P 500 shook off last week’s skid with modest gains, but the Dow Jones Industrial Average lagged the broader market.
The S&P 500 closed up 0.4%, while the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.6%. The Dow fell 54 points or 0.1%.
It was a mostly quiet day for markets. Earnings season is winding down, with the week’s biggest report expected from Nvidia on Wednesday. A main focus for Wall Street has been President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet picks.
