Biden to keep target of accepting 125,000 refugees next year, memo says
President Joe Biden has reaffirmed the administration’s goal of accepting 125,000 refugees next year, as outlined in a memo sent to the U.S. State Department on Monday.
The Biden administration is on track to admit 100,000 individuals through the US Refugee Admissions Program for fiscal year 2024, which concludes on September 30, according to an internal report to U.S. lawmakers, as reported by Reuters.
If achieved, this would represent the highest number of refugee admissions in 30 years.
